How the commit streak works
A day contributes to your streak when at least one eligible authored commit appears for that date in a linked repository. Consecutive active days increase the streak; a day without eligible activity ends it.
Your public developer profile shows the current streak next to period totals. This makes it easy to distinguish daily consistency from total volume.
Use streaks as encouragement, not pressure
Healthy software work includes research, conversations and rest. A streak can be a playful prompt to keep a side project moving, but breaking it is not failure and manufacturing tiny commits only weakens the signal.
- Make one meaningful contribution rather than chasing volume
- Use weekly totals when daily work does not fit your routine
