Repository ranking versus developer ranking
A repository ranking keeps projects separate: commits to one project do not increase the position of another. The developer board instead combines a person’s activity across every repository they linked.
Use the repository board when the project is the unit you want to compare. Use the developer board when you care about a contributor’s complete activity across projects.
Public projects and private work
Public repositories can link to GitHub from the ranking. Private repositories can still contribute safely, but their names, URLs, commits and code remain private; only the activity total is used.
